Booster Seat For Grown Up Child
Booster seats is the final stage equipment and much different from forward facing in terms of size and design.
They are classified as Group 2 (combination) and Group 3 (booster cushions).
Normally children are held in rear facing using five point harness belt but in booster seat children are encouraged to used adult seat belt.
They are not big and they posses other benefits and advantage that gives good comfort and safety for grown up children.
Basically they are designed to give extra seat lift for firm seating position and better height to the child.
It encourages the children to use vehicle seat belt and when they sit on the booster seat the vehicle seat belt perfectly fit across the child body at the correct level.
Some booster seat comes with integrated isofix system so there is no need to buy separate isofix for secure installation. This integrated system makes the installation more simple and easy.
This car seat is used when the child exceeds the prescribed weight in Group 1 car seat i.e. when she weighs more than 15 kg and at this stage she is ready to move to Group 2 car seat.
Booster seat is suitable for children weighing from 15 kg to 36 kg (4 years to 12 years) and it is also available with detachable backrest, removable armrest and head support.
This attachment gives extra safety to the children in case of impact.
Booster cushion with detachable backrest is termed as combination car seat i.e.
you can use booster cushion with or without backrest.
When your child outgrows the booster seat it can be converted to booster cushion by removing backrest and armrest.
This car seat is not heavy and easy to transfer from car to car and with the help of integrated isofix system the installation is simple.
Proper belt hooks and belt guide are provided for secure installation and it is essential to fit the belt correctly to give maximum support to the child.
If you use only the booster cushion you can install it using lap strap alone but if you use it along with backrest you need to use the lap strap along with shoulder belt.
Make sure the seat belt is lie flat and not twisted during installation.
The lap belt must lie over the thigh area and the shoulder belt must fit across the shoulder.
Preferably the booster seats are placed in the back seat of the car and if you intend to place it in the front then remove the air bag.
